Mission: To improve the quality of life for those of us living in the McQuesten Neighbourhood.

Vision: We the residents of McQuesten are proud of and engaged in our community. We believe in the assets and strengths of the people who live, work and play in our neighbourhood. Through building strong relationships, we work together to ensure our neighbourhood remains a safe and healthy place where everyone has equal access to supports, employment, food and the opportunities that improve our quality of life.

6th Annual Crawl May 15th - in need of Volunteers for serving, if raining it will be inside the St. Helen’s Centre gym.

Pat with The Urban Farm update

Launch of the Urban Farm / Hamilton Victory Gardens project at the 6th Annual Crawl this year and - New News about the fresh produce and where it will be going, Free Good Food Boxes will be available to Ontario Works members in the community. -in need of Volunteers as well.

Duane with The Boy’s and Girl’s Club update

Coming to our community soon, Kid’s Program’s in schools and 2 Oriole Crescent’s star unit, working with Artist, Art’s Program’s. Also Duane is leaving for one year but will return.

David with Taste Buds

Starting reno’s in room 17 at St. Helen’s Centre for the new taste buds kitchen, coming soon to cook and prep. Healthy foods then delivered by bicycle to our local community schools.

Brent with public health Nurse info

They will be writing a report to continue with the public health nurse in the community for another 18 months, because a public health nurse is now a valuable asset here in our community and to the neighbour’s.

David with Youth Employment Program

Summer youth employment outreach is looking for students this summer

There will be an opportunity for a McQuesten youth to work here this summer.

Jessie with youth grant

Youth grant $485.00 update June 13th Volunteer Opportunities Party from 3:00pm - 6:00pm held by the youth, we are all in favor and the grant is approved.

This is a joint venture with McMaster School of Nursing.

Students taking the course will work with our community doing research on an Action Item with the support of 2 McQuesten neighbours.

As community we will identify the issue and the 2 neighbours will attend the 12 week course at the Perkins Centre on Wednesday evenings. beginning the first week of September. A mandatory orientation will take place on Wednesday Aug 27th, 6:00 pm @ McMaster University.

An honorarium will be provided for the volunteers.

Miranda with Movie Night

The next movie night will be Finding NEMO on May 30th from 6:00pm - 8:00pm free to all and snacks provided.

Community garden and urban farm merge? Pat’s looking for your input on this subject, yes or no?

Pat with Caring Committee

We are in need of someone to take over the caring committee and Rose Laws has volunteered to take over this important responsibility.

Amber with Y on wheels

The Y on wheels will be coming once a week to interact with the children in the community; they will play games and sports.

Next meeting will be held on June 9th 2014 from

6:30pm - 8:30pm
